Location: León (Spain)

  • TT&C Control Center Design Lead

Freezz is a dynamic, young high-tech space company operating across three core European locations (Switzerland, Italy, Spain). We’re strongly committed to delivery and rapid growth in the commercial satellite and space connectivity sector. We’re developing next-generation solutions in two core markets: Direct-to-Device (D2D) Connectivity and Friilink. We combine aerospace expertise with startup speed and deliver-first discipline. FRIISAT is Freezz’s flagship constellation programme—a large-scale Very Low Earth Orbit (VLEO) constellation delivering D2D connectivity across Europe and globally. The programme encompasses a Spacecraft Platform, Ground Infrastructure, and Payload & Services. The FRIISAT programme is co-funded by ESA’s IRIS² initiative and represents a critical step toward European strategic autonomy in satellite communications. You’ll drive the end-to-end design, architecture and implementation of the TT&C control center from concept through operational deployment.

    What You Will Do

    • TT&C control center architecture and system design for constellation-scale operations.
    • Command and telemetry system design for 1,500+ satellite constellation management.
    • Network architecture for command uplink/telemetry downlink across distributed ground stations.
    • Design of worldwide ground station network integration (leased/partner stations).
    • Payload band feeder link integration and management through backbone internet.
    • Constellation monitoring, state telemetry and real-time command routing.
    • Software architecture for TT&C operations, automation and decision support.
    • Integration with partner ground operators and station networks.
    • Data flow architecture: uplink scheduling, downlink routing, telemetry pipeline.
    • System reliability, redundancy and failover for 24/7 constellation operations.
    • Interface definition between control center and constellation platform/payload systems.
    • Cybersecurity and access control for global command authority.
    • Verification, validation and operability testing of TT&C systems.
    • Scalability design for constellation growth and feature evolution.
    • Documentation: system architecture, interface control documents, operational procedures.

    What We Are Looking For

    • Proven experience designing and implementing TT&C satellite control centers (5+ years minimum).
    • Deep knowledge of TT&C systems: command uplink, telemetry downlink, ranging, antenna control.
    • Experience managing constellations or large-scale multi-satellite operations.
    • Strong understanding of ground station operations, network architecture and global distribution.
    • Experience integrating third-party/partner ground stations into unified operations.
    • Solid grasp of payload management, feeder links and inter-satellite links.
    • Hands-on knowledge of modern network architecture, cloud infrastructure and backbone systems.
    • Experience with software architecture for real-time mission-critical systems.
    • Proven ability to work across teams: engineers, operators, partner organizations, IT teams.
    • Understanding of regulatory and security requirements for satellite command authority.
    • Professional working proficiency in English (Spanish a plus).
    • Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent; or equivalent professional experience.
    • You combine deep TT&C systems expertise with modern software and network architecture thinking. You’ve shipped a control center—you know the engineering trade-offs, the operational realities, and what it takes to scale. You’re comfortable architecting at the system level and diving deep into technical details with specialists. You think in terms of reliability, latency, scalability and operational efficiency—not just performance. You want to build something that actually works, at scale, for the long term.

    Valuable Additional Experience

    • Commercial or New Space constellation experience, modular or microservices architecture for TT&C.
    • Cloud-based ground systems design, automated constellation management and orchestration, machine learning for operations optimization.
    • Multi-orbit constellation experience (LEO/MEO).
    • Cybersecurity architecture for satellite operations, software-defined networking (SDN) for station integration, or experience with large distributed IoT/device management networks.
